Personality and Behaviour

Hannah hates that Hufflepuffs are considered to be nice even though she is. She's very loyal to her family, her house, her friends, her school, and Dumbledore's Army and she'd do anything she could for them. If it wasn't for her lack of confidence, she'd probably be in Gryffindor. The other difference between her and a Gryffindor is that even if a friend is doing the wrong thing, she'll stand by her friend because loyalty is that important to her. Gryffindors wouldn't. She's always thoughts that Gryffindors can be a little mean at times, but she's quite fond of many of them, and she tries to have friends of all houses (except Slytherin, they're never nice). Of the Gryffindors, she likes Neville Longbottom the most. Of her own house, she likes Justin Finch-Fletchey the most. He's pretty much her best friend.

Hannah is rather quiet because of her insecurity. She probably would be a very capable wizard if she actually tried, but she doesn't. Her insecurity also causes her to have anxiety problems, as evidenced during her Transfiguration OWL, when she turned a ferret into a flock of flamingos. When no one's watching, she is a quite capable witch and an excellent cook. She likes watcing Quidditch because of how dangerous it is (though she's a terribly flyer). She also likes visiting the House Elves and trading recipes with them.

Strengths and Weaknesses

Strengths

Is a kind and loyal friend, who people feel they can confide in. Can cast a strong Patronus in the form of a sea lion. Good at writing, though not necessarily at the subjects she's writing about. Excellent at Ancient Runes

Weaknesses

Insecurity. Often messes up her magic because she thinks that people are watching her and laughing. Can never come up with a retort quickly after being insulted, which Slytherins have used to taunt her. Bad at hexes, but good at counter-jinxes (during the Battle of Hogwarts, she was good at defending people rather than attacking). Gullible. Occasionally has school related anxiety problems.

Personal History

Hannah Abbott was a happy child. She was an only child, which left her a bit lonely, but she had fun making up elaborate stories with her dolls. She was closer with her mother than with her father, always sticking by her mother's side. She learned to knit when she was five, the muggle way (because her mum always believed that things came out so much nicer that way). Her first sign of magic was making one of her non magical stuffed birds fly around the room, chirping. Her parents weren't concerned about her admittance into Hogwarts, but were still quite pleased when the acceptance letter came, and as a reward bought her anything she wanted - she requested a kitty. She'd never been able to have a kitty before because her Mum was allergic, but since Hannah would now be at Hogwarts most of the year, she was allowed to get the pet.

She was quite pleased to be sorted into Hufflepuff, as she didn't think she was smart enough for Ravenclaw, mean enough for Slytherin, or brave enough for Gryffindor. The Sorting Hat told her that she could be in Gryffindor, but that Hufflepuff would appreciate her loyalty the most. She thought that Professor Snape was the meanest person she'd ever met, though he rarely picked on her since she kept her head down and was reasonably adept at making potions. During her second year, she was deeply upset when her friend Justin Finch-Fletchey was petrified by a Basilisk. When her friend Ernie MacMillan told her that Harry Potter was the Heir of Slytherin she believed him, and felt quite bad about it when she was later proven wrong (though she never did quite understand what happened in there).

Her time at Hogwarts went well, even though she didn't believe she was very smart. She then met people like Crabbe and Goyle and learned that no matter what, she'd never be as dumb as them. She felt better. She was devastated when Cedric Diggory died, as he'd always been extremely nice to her, and she had a bit of a crush on him. She joined Dumbledore's Army where she learned much more about defensive magic than she had with any other teacher (the closer runner up being Professor Lupin - she had a crush on him too, even more so when she found out he was a werewolf, as that was such a tragic thing to happen to such a nice man). She stopped attending Hogwarts the next year, when her mother was killed by Death Eaters. Hannah was absolutely devastated, as her mum was the person she was closest with. Though she no longer attended Hogwarts, she still had her father buy her all the school books, and she spent more time studying than she would have at school. During what would have been her seventh year, she and her father gave many exiled Muggle borns a safe place to stay. During the Battle of Hogwarts, she returned to fight, because she knew she had to stand up for her school.

Once all that was settled, she went back to Hogwarts to finish up her schooling. Though she'd been out of Hogwarts for two years, she was able to finish her studies in one year, since she'd studied so much on her own. After graduating, she got a job as a copy-editor for the Daily Prophet, planning to work her way up to a position where she could help the newspaper gain back some of its credibility.

Other Information
