Personality and Behaviour

Hermione is the voice of reason in any, and all situations, even those dealing with emotions (unless they're hers, that is). Too smart for her own good, some would say, but she works very hard in order to be so. Despite her undying love for logic, Hermione is a very loving person, playing mother to Ron and Harry more than any of them ever realize. Dedicated to things she believes in, loyal, and brave.

A fierce defender of friends and the helpless, Hermione is surprisingly unsure of herself (even in the face of near-constant praise). Hermione seems to feel the need to prove herself to everyone over and over, though it appears the only one that needs convincing is herself.

Very big into the whole following-the-rules thing and avoidance of danger, Hermione is still oddly prone to falling into troublesome situations (blame it on her need to protect the other 2/3 of the Golden Trio), and usually finds herself actually enjoying it. But don't tell Ron and Harry, they'd probably make her do more illegal things, and she is a member of the Ministry of Magic!

Strengths and Weaknesses

Strengths

Can cast the Patronus Charm (form of an otter), very adept at non-verbal spell casting and defensive charms, and has invented spells of her own (Four-Point Spell used in the maze by Harry, fourth year). Pretty good at dueling, once over own self-doubt. Even better at righteous indignation, and reprimand-giving.

Weaknesses

Haughty and pushy at first, but it's all really a big cover-up for her own insecurities. Better on the offensive than the defensive, right? She can also be a bit on the smothering side, not to mention a firm believer in following the rules (or so she says). Often frazzled and so one-tracked that she can seem rather scatter-brained. Forgetting things that, at the time, seem less important to her. Can't ride a broom to save her life (and generally a little nervous when flying, period) and had difficulty learning the Patronus.

Personal History

After the war, Hermione returned to Hogwarts to receive her N.E.W.T.s and afterward wasted no time in proceeding to the Ministry of Magic seeking a job, hoping for something to help with her fight for the rights of those who can't help themselves. Now working for the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures and slowly undermining what it's made for. Hoping to get the title changed to something a little less regulatory sounding. Maybe something like The Department for the Help of Non-Wizarding Magical Folk. Still trying to come up with something a little more politically correct.
